The Community Transportation Association of America (CTAA) contracted with LSC Transportation Consultants, Inc. (LSC) to provide technical assistance to the Northern Cheyenne Tribe in southeastern Montana. The technical assistance specifically focuses on identifying transit needs on the Reservation and how to best provide public transportation to meet those needs.
The Northern Cheyenne Tribe has identified public transit as a major need for tribal members. Access to employment and services are major impediments for many tribal members. Although jobs may be available either on the Reservation or in nearby communities, many individuals do not have reliable transportation to pursue these jobs. The Nation encompasses a large geographic area with services consolidated in a few communities. Tribal members may have difficulty in accessing serves because of a lack of transportation.
