Pace contracted with LSC Transportation Consultants, Inc. to prepare a paratransit plan for Lake County, Illinois. Pace is taking steps to improve the quality of paratransit services provided in Lake County. The completed plan will provide a basis for funding local human services transportation projects. There are numerous transportation providers in Lake County, in addition to the traditional transit services. Coordination among these transportation providers will establish an opportunity to obtain efficiencies in operations and improved service for users. This plan will assess existing and future paratransit bus transit needs for the Lake County area.
Technical Memorandum #1 describes the community setting and provides the inventory of transportation providers in Lake County. Information in this report will be used to analyze the demand for paratransit services and to develop strategies for coordination and improvement of paratransit services to meet the needs.
The local Project Steering Committee met on June 21 to review Technical Memorandum #1 and to identify gaps in paratransit service and possible alternatives to meet the transportation needs of Lake County.
Technical Memorandum #2 presents the analysis of transit demand, service alternatives to meet gaps in service, and coordination strategies for Lake County. Potential funding sources are also described.
The Draft Final Report incorporates the material presented in the two Technical Memoranda with updates based on comments and feedback. The Draft Final Report also presents the recommended implementation strategies.
