Kingman Public Transit Feasibility Study

The City of Kingman in cooperation with Mohave County and the Western Arizona Council of Governments contracted with LSC to prepare a Transit Feasibility Study for the Greater Kingman Area. This feasibility study will involve the review, updating, and expansion of the Public Transit Element found in the Kingman Area Transportation Study prepare in 1997.

The project was initiated with a meeting of the Transit Advisory Committee (TAC) on March 28 followed by a public meeting. Members of the TAC and residents of Kingman and the surrounding area identified issues and needs for public transportation services.

Technical Memorandum #1 has been submitted. This interim document describes the community, the existing transportation resources in the Kingman area, and the level of demand for public transportation services. The document may be downloaded in Adobe Acrobat format. Comments may be sent to LSC by email.

Technical Memorandum #2 presents a Draft Strategic Transit Plan. This draft plan will be reviewed and when approved, it will provide direction for developing transit system alternatives and an implementation plan.

Technical Memorandum #3 presents several transit service scenarios and alternatives for the institutional structure and financing of transit services. Preliminary recommendations are also provided for discussion and selection of a preferred alternative.

The Final Report presents the recommended implementation plan. The material included in the three Technical Memoranda have been incorporated into the Final Report with the recommendations for transit service in the Kingman area. The recommendations were presented to the Kingman Council and the City is taking steps to move forward with implementation.
