Intermountain Region Transit Element

The Roaring Fork Transportation Authority, on behalf of the Intermountain Regional Planning Commission, contracted with LSC Transportation Consultants, Inc. (LSC) to prepare the Regional Transit Element for the Intermountain Regional Transportation Plan (RTP). The Intermountain Region includes Eagle, Garfield, Lake, Pitkin, and Summit Counties. The Transit Element will provide a long-range plan for public transportation services within the region.

This Transit Element will be incorporated into the Regional Transportation Plan and will become the transit planning document for the Regional Planning Commission (RPC) and the transit service providers within the Intermountain Region. The Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT) will use the Transit Elements in evaluating and approving grant applications for capital and operating funds from the Federal Transit Administration (FTA) as well as other available transit funds. The RPCs will use the Transit Elements for allocating FTA, other available transit funds, and Other Regional Priority Funds for transit projects and local governments may rely on the Transit Element for prioritization of all transit funds.

The project schedule is posted and upcoming meetings will be announced on this site. The project schedule shows both components of this project. Meetings for both the transit element and the Summit Stage operations plan will be posted here.

The Final Report for the 2030 Transit Element has been posted. The document is being provided for review and comment. The Draft Transit Element incorporates the information which was presented in interim reports as Technical Memoranda. Comments are sought on the Draft Transit Element. Comments may be sent to the project team by email, mailed, or given in person at public meetings on May 7. Public meetings were held at 5:00 p.m. in Glenwood Springs and 7:30 p.m. in Edwards.
